If you seek high quality Japanese food and service- then this is your restaurant to pick in Old Town Scottsdale! Plus if you fancy happy hour, from 4 to 6pm daily they offer discounted drinks and food items. A pretty extensive list of items can be had. Omakse is even on the happy hour menu. Happy hour can be had wherever you are seated. The restaurant décor is very minimalistic with light wood trim. The restaurant is semi-darkly light. The seating includes seats at the bar, sushi bar, outdoor patio and inside space that includes tables and bars. The true treat is to grab a seat at the sushi bar so you can marvel at the sushi chef's work of art. Its impressive to see how they cut the fish and assemble the dishes. Pablo (with an O), Diego and Allen at the sushi bar will surely take care of you! Each dish we ordered melted in our mouth. The fish was so fresh. And of course, cut very well. Beyond sushi we ordered off the special menu- We had the collard Hamachi which melted in our mouth- it was so nicely prepared- they smoked/grilled it. The only issue with this dish is that it is so small- you will be wanting more....this dish is only offered for a limited time. Overall amazing service and tasty food. Unfortunately we did not leave stuff but wanting more....I am looking forward to trying this restaurant again or one of their other Uchi restaurants throughout the Country.

I have been to Uchi in Miami, Austin, Dallas and now Phoenix! Hubby and I came to celebrate our anniversary. It was not super busy. The restaurant was so clean and ambiance was chill. We ordered the Happy Hour 8 course Omakase for 2 $120. Price was decent but it was just a light tasting menu. It was good but wasn't anything special in our opinion. My husband was very hungry so we ordered extra sashimi, nigiri and maki etc. Spent $300 at the end. My favorite item was the HH Otoro Gunkan with caviar and the Negitoro Maki. I love toro!! The Tiger Prawn skewer was yummy as well!

Uchi in Old Town Scottsdale delivered an exceptional happy hour experience from start to finish. We were seated immediately, and our server was both friendly and professional, setting the tone for a fantastic time. The ambiance was spot on -- muted colors and sleek decor created a chill, sophisticated vibe that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We ordered a variety of sushi, and I was genuinely impressed by both the quality and the presentation. The Otoro Gunkan with caviar was the undeniable standout--rich, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The wagyu carpaccio was also a highlight, beautifully delicate yet packed with flavor. The cocktails? Equally impressive. The Island Heat had a bold smokiness from the mezcal that balanced perfectly with its spice, while the Subarashi was smooth, flavorful, and dangerously easy to drink! Overall, Uchi exceeded expectations with its impeccable service, fab sushi, and well-crafted cocktails. A must-visit spot in Scottsdale! Saluti

Simple, clean, woody decor. Polite servers. Humorless reception desk. Sushi was fresh and much more sophisticated than your average American Japanese restaurant. Also more expensive than typical but this is Scottsdale so it's to be expected. If you're looking for a unique upscale sushi experience this is it in Old Town. (Skip the chain place -Ra- across the street)

Came here on a random Tuesday evening for the first time. They said they had open seats at the bar but it would take about an hour for a table. We were a bit annoyed because from the moment we walked in up until the moment we left, there were a few tables that were open the entire time that we could've been seated at! For places like these, a table is more preferred. Our bartender was great though! Funny, cool guy. Unfortunately, I can't remember his name. He chatted with us a bit and even offered to buy our dessert. Super nice of him! We opted out though since we knew we were getting dessert elsewhere. We didn't order too much because he actually really wanted steak from the start. Our order: Apricot Boulevardier $17 Grey Goose Martini $20.5 Hotate Yakitori $20 Negitoro Maki $17 Hotate Crudo $22 Spicy Crunchy Tuna $16.50 Hama Kama $32 Maruju Uni x2 $48 Vodka soda x2 $34 We rushed when ordering because he was super hungry and ordered some wrong items. Didn't realize we ordered two hotate items. He thought the Spicy Tuna Crunch was something completely different and was disappointed to see that it was not what he thought it was. We also didn't realize uni nigiri was 1 piece for $24. Everything tasted fresh but all of the raw items were close to room temp. I prefer sushi/sashimi to be cold.

Back to my favorite spot in town! My favorite manager David will be away soon helping to open up new locations so have to get in my fill. I highly recommend stopping by and wishing David success on his ventures if you haven't had a chance to meet him! He is a pure example of personalized, warm hospitality! So my mocktail was once again perfectly made by Nick--some combination of Yuzu and extra tart, just the way I love it! The NA sparkling wine was also so refreshing. The shrimp skewer, drizzled in pesto, was delicious. I'd be curious whatan added splash of tart or ponzu might do for it? The grilled romaine and salmon hand rolls were fantastic as always. The new king trumpet skewers were a delightful surprise--love that scorch! The salmon hand roll was so fresh. Great texture combo. I absolutely loved hearing that they're letting staff take a creative lead on suggesting new specials--it makes for such a fun and unique experience! I can't wait to taste what they come up with! Definitely want to recognize Austin for his chill yet attentive bar service. I was especially impressed last night by how he handled a customer mix-up. The guests next to me had forgotten they'd already received a couple of dishes I was pretty sure Austin suspected they'd received. Nevertheless, he remained cool and easy-going, playfully assuring them that he'd be happy to fix whatever they thought was missing. When they later realized the mistake in receiving dishes they'd already enjoyed, they apologized. He just smiled and playfully replied, "No problem. I'm here to feed you 'til you're full." Such a brilliant and kind response! Well-done Austin! Exemplary customer service! The food runners were as cheerful and knowledgeable as ever, and my favorite David was his usual warm and hospitable self. Just another amazing Uchi night! Until next time...

Went for happy hour and did the signature tasting for 2 for $120- such a good deal that included dessert, it was actually too much food for us. Service was good, except food took a long time to come out towards the end of the meal. Turned into a 2.5+ hour dinner. I would definitely go back for happy hour and order a la carte! Love the look and vibes of the restaurant.

Came by for their happy hour (4-6pm) - made a reservation online for our party of four at 4pm a couple days prior. Happy hour can be ordered regardless of where you are seated (bar, table). Our waiter, Spencer, was friendly and attentive. We ordered two of the signature omakases ($120 for 2 people) and a madai crudo (I think??). Dishes were delivered by different runners who gave a brief overview of ingredients, and if applicable, the best way to consume. Of the 10-course omakase, 3 were veg (brussels, avocado, pumpkin), 1 wagyu, 5 seafood (fish/oyster), and 1 dessert. Madai crudo (sea bream) was very good - beautifully plated and very balanced. As for the omakase dishes, the kabocha tempura was hefty in quantity, although weighed down by the amount of oil absorbed - not the light tempura we expected. Also didn't love the wagyu as it was bit tough, the allure of "omg this is wagyu!!" wearing off after each subsequent chew. Avocado nigiri was very much a filler item. Remaining dishes were quite good, and we enjoyed finishing the meal off with the included warm banana cake. Not a bad omakase in terms of quality and value, seeing as 4-5 items of the 10 weren't strictly fish. Numerous staff, whether at the hostess stand, running food, clearing dishes, bringing carafes of waters once ours were depleted, etc. By the time we left, Uchi was bustling with diners. Overall, an impeccable ambiance supported by a great staff, with tasty food. We didn't leave stuffed, but we also didn't need a McDonald's detour afterwards. Total was ~$320 after tip, so around $80pp. Based on restaurants in the area, Uchi is the preferred choice for a modern atmosphere without egregiously overpaying for quality food. Other restaurants in the area tend to be part of conglomerates, fixed staples that have settled into delivering predictable food and service. Will be back for special occasions!
